Fallout was one of the biggest games of 2008. Set in a nuclear wastleand around Washington DC, it told the story of a survival shelter or vault dweller searching for his father. Through out 2009, Bethseda released five downloadble packs for the game.
Operation Achorage is a virtual reality military simulator and takes place before the events of the main game. The Pitt sees the player travel to a slaver town in Pennsylvania. Broken Steel continues the somewhat anti-climatic main storyline and raises the level cap. In Mothership Zeta the player is abduced by aliens and in Point Look Out (the best of the expansions) the player travels to a large island south of the Capital Wastleland which is full of swamp-folk and hillbillies.
This release sees the original game and the expansions bundled into one accalimed package. That's over 120 hours of gameplay in one tremendous value for money package (the expansions cost €8 to download individually).
It's not all perfect though. The main storyline runs out of steam quickly, the combat can get reptitive, towards the end it's hard to find any decent opponents and two of the expansions packs (Operation Achorage and Mothership Zeta) are particularly bland. That aside the game really is that good.
If you haven't played Fallout 3 before, or missed out on the expansions, this release is a great buy. Just try not to think about all the productive things you could be doing instead of exploring the Capital Wasteland.
