As we reported last week, a brand-new-but-somewhat-old-school version of Sonic The Hedgehog is making its way to modern consoles in 2017.
Sonic Mania will see the return of the world's fastest hedgehog, the fox with two tails and Knuckles the Echidna to our screens with a classic 2D adventure unlike anything we've seen in years. Fans of Sonic the Hedgehog have been pouring over the footage we debuted and have been pointing out endless amounts of nods, winks and references to classic Sega games.
It's all a beautiful, nostalgia-heavy wonderland and what's more, the music for Sonic Mania sounds like it's completely in that vein. As well as having the same music for Green Hill Zone, the team behind Sonic Mania also wrote brand-new music for the new levels in Sonic Mania, one of them being Studiopolis Zone.
Have a listen.
Honestly, this sounds so close to Sonic & Knuckles or Sonic CD that we're tearing up slightly. Although, it will never EVER beat Chemical Plant Zone's music. That was the single greatest music cue in Sonic's history.
Don't come up here, trying to say that Sonic & Knuckles had better music because it didn't. It doesn't even matter if Michael Jackson wrote the soundtrack, Sonic 2 had way better music.
