Programming unusual items to run unusual programs is a common enough activity.
'Doom', in particular, has been programmed to run on some of the most unusual places - but this really does take the biscuit. A programmer in California named Foone Turing has managed to run the 1993 first-person shooter... on a pregnancy test kit.
Yes, really.
Yesterday I had a lot of retweets and reddit posts and such for playing Doom on a pregnancy test.
But as I explained then, it wasn't really PLAYING on a pregnancy test, it was just a video being played back, not an interactive game.
Well, now it is. It's Pregnancy Test Doom! pic.twitter.com/Nrjyq07EVv— foone🏳️⚧️ (@Foone) September 7, 2020
The test kit has 128x32 monochrome display, but the CPU and the display were both replaced, so you really just have the cover of the pregnancy test kit as the original. Still, it's pretty damn weird to see 'Doom' on... a pregnancy test kit.
Yeah, that's never not going to be weird to say or type. At least you don't have to pee on it to get Doomguy to move or fire, as there's a handy little keyboard to go along with it.
