Considering Cars 2 is the weakest of Pixar's offerings to date it doesn't bode well for the game of the same name. However, Cars 2 is actually an enjoyable and competent enough racing title which should appeal to younger gamers. It's a pick up and play and it supports up to four players racing against each other on the same system. The racer is similar to Mario Kart in that there's a wealth of power ups and weapons which can be used to take out other Cars.
The game lets racers choose any of the Cars from the film but thankfully the characters aren't quite as annoying as they are on the big screen. There's no real story, suffice to say fans of the franchise will delighted by how accurately the game depict's Pixar's world and almost all of the cars are voiced by the same actors from the films. The game doesn't support online play which is probably Disney's heavy handed attempt to convince parents that this title is suitable for the younger members of their family. The game isn't much fun in single-player and, it's not really for older players but then you knew that.
