Different?

That's one way of putting it. Different. Sure, it's different. Different bad or different good, you're probably asking. We'll let you decide, but we're gonna go ahead and say Different Bad. Different Bad because, realistically, Konami could have easily left Metal Gear Solid alone after The Phantom Pain.

There didn't need to be another one and both Metal Gear and Hideo Kojima are intrinsically linked. Trying to force it out on its own without Hideo Kojima was just never, ever going to work. Not in a month of Sundays. Never. Not a hope. Yet, here we are looking at a poorly realised, wildly misjudged attempt at Konami to try and take on Resident Evil and Left 4 Dead. Oh, and it's set in an Alternate Universe™ because f*ck you for thinking otherwise.

An alternative universe. Wow. Look at this trailer just released from Gamescom.

Firstly, zombies? Really? Zombies in Metal Gear? Is this 2010? No. Not happening. Secondly, a co-op Metal Gear could have been great in, say, The Phantom Pain or something. The idea of stealth co-op is a brilliant one and you can tell that, had Kojima not parted ways with Konami, this would have been something that could have been explored more fully.

Thirdly, ZOMBIES LIKE WHAT THE ACTUAL F***. This is an abomination and stands against everything that Metal Gear Solid represents. It's unoriginal, it's not inventive and it's bland.

No, no, no, no, no, no. Also, check out the like / dislike ratio as of writing.

No. Sound off in the comments.
