To say that the Xbox Series X has had a rough time of it lately is a bit of an understatement.
In the past week alone, it's had its release date leaked online and now, the source code for the graphics card for the new Microsoft console has been stolen and is being held ransom.
An unidentified hacker has posted segments from the source code of the Arden GPU made by AMD, which is reputed to be the GPU that will be used in the Xbox Series X. So far, Microsoft have issued no statements on the matter, however AMD slapped a DMCA takedown notice on Github where portions of the stolen code were found.
In a statement released to media earlier today, AMD said that the stolen data "is not core to the competitiveness or security of our graphics products." The full specifications for the Xbox Series X were announced earlier this month, which included a graphics target of 60 to 120 frames per second at 4K resolution.
Not only that, but the Xbox Series X is also expected to ship with a quick-resume feature from its solid-state drive, meaning that you can unplug the console, disconnect everything, and restart the game and jump right back into the action as if nothing had ever happened.
The Xbox Series X is expected to launch in late 2020, with launch titles including 'Halo Infinite' and will feature compatibility with the Xbox One as well.
