To anyone who owns a console, you'll know that two of the greatest games of recent years have been the double whammy of Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. You got to play as Batman (awesome!), sometimes as Catwoman (awesome!), you beat up the likes of The Joker and Two-Face (AWESOME!!), and you roamed around these famous Batman landmarks, constantly feeding into Batman's mythology with appearances by so many of the villainous bad guy gallery that we were on a constant giddy high.

But this week it has been revealed that we're going back to before either of these games' events took place, to a snowy Christmas Eve in Gotham City. Eight assassins (only one of which - vicious mercenary Deathstroke - has been revealed yet) have arrived in town with one goal in mind; kill the Batman. But this version of the dark knight is relatively raw, not the perfectly trained hero we know from the later games, so he has definitely got his work cut out for him.

Rocksteady developed the first two Arkham games, but have handed over the reins - and the same customised Unreal engine - to Warner Bros. Games Montreal. Warner Bros. are the rights holders to the Batman franchise, and this games company have developed the likes of Homefront and Prototype, so the series is in good hands.

Batman: Arkham Origins is due out October 25th 2013, and keep checking in with entertainment.ie for updates on this sure-to-be-awesome game.
