October is the month for all things ghoulish and what better way to celebrate this then at the Bram Stoker Festival. After a hugely successful first year, Bram Stoker Festival 2013 is back this bank holiday weekend, running from Saturday 26th to the Monday 28th October 2013.

The Bram Stoker Festival, an initiative of the Dublin City Council, is inspired by the Dublin horror novelist Bram Stoker and his gothic novel 'Dracula' to celebrate all things macabre, strange and supernatural mixed with some good old fashioned Halloween fun. There is a huge amount of activities taking place over the weekend for all you Bram Stoker fans including free pop-up performances of spine-chilling street theatre and sinister sounds. The festival will also have a city-wide Vampire Hunt for groups wanting to explore the city on a completely unique trip with a special mini hunt for families and mini-me's. There will be spooky movies in the open-air, blood curdling literary happenings, gory live graffiti projects, terrifying theatre, haunted walks and talks and to top it off a very special happening will take over the spectacular gothic courtyards of Dublin Castle taking you into the unknown - into the world of Stoker's imagination, into a place where a darkened castle backdrop gives way to a fiery lair where a famous Count lies in wait. We can feel the chills already...

Whether you're a resident vampire or visiting from further afield, the Bram Stoker Festival 2013 has something for everyone in it's spooktacular programme of events including a literary filled programme in locations from the sublime to the seedy. Also in attendance will be best-selling author John Boyne (Boy in the Striped Pyjamas) and acclaimed gothic writer, Diane Setterfield. Numerous literary talks will take place over the weekend. The festival also gives the chance to local artists and innovators to show off their talents with Culture Bites: Celebrating the Pulse of Now. This will feature live graffiti projects, pop-up banquets, to Fast Intent theatre company’s atmospheric performance in The Printworks in Dublin Castle. For all you film lovers there will be plenty of screenings over the weekend to keep you entertained. Screenings include Dracula, The Brides of Dracula and Blood of Dracula , and for the kids The Monster Squad , and the enchanting Hotel Translyvania. This is one weekend you do not want to miss.

Dacre Stoker, from the Bram Stoker Estate and great grand nephew of Bram Stoker said about the festival, 'The Bram Stoker Estate is thrilled with the calibre of the programme and how much the festival has grown this year. We are really looking forward to seeing the pages from Dracula come to life in the city.'  While Dublin's Lord Mayor Oisin Quinn welcomed the return of the festival saying, 'Dublin prides itself on its literary stars, Bram Stoker among them. The uniqueness of this festival creates an intense, thrilling and fun atmosphere in the City for all the family, young and old.'
