Children’s poetry offers unfettered access to the childlike imagination, and can be serious or funny, whimsical or weighty, educational or just plain entertaining. Often the unsung younger sibling of adult poetry, it offers a fresh way of looking at the poetic form, and at the world in general. Through a series of ingenious exercises Alan’s workshop will help to awaken a mischievous muse in every budding the childrens’ poet. Alan Murphy is the Dublin-born writer and illustrator of four collections of poetry for young readers, two of which have been shortlisted for the CAP awards for independent authors. He has been featured in children’s poetry anthologies in the UK and America, has published poetry for adults and visual art with a number of journals, and has giving readings and workshops at many festivals over the years. His most recent book is All Gums Blazing. www.avantcardpublications.com Workshop fee: €20.00 and booking is essential.
