With 23 different walks over four weekends in July, chosen by 14 local communities, there is plenty to choose from. For ramblers from Laois, the walks offer a wonderful opportunity to reacquaint yourself with the magnificent environs of the local countryside whilst those from further afield it will offer a wonderful introduction to the county of Laois from the rare flora and fauna of the forests to the lovely lakes, majestic mountains and ruins steeped in history. For visitors to Laois, the festival offers an excellent opportunity to experience the many track, trails, historical gems, and stunning scenery of the midlands. Whether you’re a novice or an experienced walker there is something for everyone as all the walks are graded in A (strenuous), B (difficult) and C (moderate, which are suitable for families), so pick and choose whichever one takes your fancy!
