Best known for their 1979 single 'Into the Valley' and the 1980 album The Absolute Game, The Skids have been active in recent years heading out on a 40th anniversary tour across the UK and Ireland in 2017. They went on to release 2018’s Burning Cities, followed up with the 2019 acoustic album Peaceful Times and 2021’s covers album Songs from a Haunted Ballroom, recorded with Big Country’s Bruce and Jamie Watson dedicated to the Kinema Ballroom in Dunfermline.
The Skids will be joined by Dublin Punk legends Paranoid Visions who are also celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2022 with a documentary about the bands history. Paranoid Visions also released 2 albums & 4 re-releases during lockdown. Meanwhile, both U2 & Paranoid Visions covered The Skids ‘The Saints Are Coming’ in 2006, and there is a long history of Paranoid Visions parodying U2 that includes their ‘I will Wallow’ EP in 1987.
