Tommie Potts: The Fireman Fiddler of The Coombe is a biographical concert celebrating the life and work of Tommie Potts (1912-1988); an experimental traditional fiddler and fire fighter with the Dublin Fire Brigade. Taking place at the Dublin Fire Brigade Training Centre, the site-specific event combines music, soundscape and live visuals to paint a three-dimensional portrait of Potts, both as a public servant and a visionary artist and musician. The event includes never-before-seen video and audio of Potts, interviews with family, friends and colleagues, and performances from three of Ireland’s leading young fiddle players Liam O’Connor, Aoife Ní Bhriain and Danny Diamond. The one-off event is a collaboration between the Irish Traditional Music Archive, the Dublin Fire Brigade and curator/producer Macdara Yeates.
