Festival organisers searched far and wide to fill the 'Eyre' with laughter to bring the funniest acts on the planet to what has always been acknowledged but only recently proclaimed as Ireland’s cultural capital, Galway. From home grown ringmaster Tommy Tiernan to Edinburgh award nominee Al Porter to Manchester megastar Jason Manford and the planet’s best one-liner man, Milton Jones - this week-long funny fest will not disappoint. For comedy fans who like some musical accompaniment with their humour, acts like David O’Doherty, The Dan Band from The Hangover and Old School movies, The Rubberbandits Halloween hullabaloo and the hip hop improv of Abandoman will provide a musical spectacle throughout the festival in the city of the tribes.

Foil Arms and Hog and the superb Pajama Men will be getting their sketch on during the festival along with Today FM duo Dermot and Dave who will bring their brand new live show to the west. Add world class silliness from PJ Gallagher, Jason Byrne, Sam Simmons, Paul Currie and Lords of Strut to superb stand up from a stellar line-up of comic geniuses Aisling Bea, Sofie Hagen, Joe Lycett, Andrew Maxwell, Joe DeRosa, Tom Stade, Glenn Wool, David McSavage, along with Jonathan Pie and the celebrated Shazia Mirza performing ‘the bravest piece of comedy you will ever see’ and now you’ve got a festival worthy of an aspiring European Capital of Culture.

The 2016 Vodafone Comedy Carnival runs as part of Vodafone’s Centre Stage programme and will see the return of the iconic Spiegeltent to Eyre Square accompanied by its brand new sister venue 'The Red Box'.
