Liz Roche Company (IRELAND, WORLD PREMIERE) Body and Forgetting and Sarah Dowling (UK) The Wake

The Festival opens with two atmospheric works that will move and inspire you.

Liz Roche is renowned for creating works that are both delicate and powerful. In Body and Forgetting , Roche explores themes of loss, separation, hope and control. A cast of remarkable dancers appear on film and on stage, as if creating different versions of themselves. They struggle to understand how and why they have forgotten.

The Wake features two soloists from The Royal Ballet sharing the stage with two traditional Irish musicians. The living and dead entwine in the twilight hours after a husband’s death – but there is joy amid the sadness. Irish-born Sarah Dowling is an Associate Artist at the Royal Opera House and a core performer with Punchdrunk.
