For 6 unforgettable days in October, the Kinopolis Polish Film Festival will take over Cineworld, Filmbase and D-Light Studios, where Dublin audiences will have a chance to see over 20 Polish titles and meet 4 special guests of the festival. The festival presents the latest achievements in Polish cinema to Irish audiences.
This year, the Kinopolis opening gala will take place on Wednesday, October 20th in the Cineworld Cinema. In attendance will be special guests from the Irish film industry Lenny Abrahamson and Kate McCullough.
The idea lying behind Kinopolis Polish Film Festival is to promote the culture of one of the biggest minorities living in Ireland. It is directed towards Irish people and foreigners inhabiting the Green Island, including the Poles who living abroad do not always have a chance to familiarise themselves with the most recent achievements of their native cinematography.
The first edition of Kinopolis took place in 2006, thanks to financial support of the Polish Film Institute and Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Dublin. Festival is directed by the Pomeranian Film Foundation in Gdynia. Since 2009 Polish Film Festival is happening in the heart of Dublin- in the Cineworld Cinema. During its 5-year existence Kinopolis has hosted many of world’s most renowned personalities of Polish cinematography: Jerzy Stuhr, Krzysztof Zanussi, Agnieszka Holland, Juliusz Machulski, Kinga Preis, Andrzej Chyra, Zbigniew Zamachowski, just to name but a few.
