The new AIB tappy wristband offers families quick, simple and secure cashless payments at Kaleidoscope 2019.

In a first for Irish festival goers, AIB is offering a cashless solution for guests at Kaleidoscope in Russborough House. ‘AIB Tappy wristbands’, in partnership with Tappit, use the latest RFID (radio frequency identification) technology.

The pilot programme will see a limited run of 5,000 AIB Tappy wristbands made available for festival attendees and their children. They can thus leave their notes and coins at home and go cashless for the weekend.

The RFID technology of the wristbands securely stores the user’s money. Cash, card, contactless and mobile payments will all still be accepted on-site. However wearers of the AIB Tappy wristbands can simply tap their band at over 90 vendor points on site. They'll be able to pay for food, drink, entertainment and donations to a range of charity partners across the event.

There will also be 3 convenient locations where customers can top up their AIB Tappy wristbands on site at Kaleidoscope.

AIB is also bringing the ‘AIB Tappy Ice Cream Van’ to Kaleidoscope. Festival goers will a delicious soft serve ice cream for just €0.01 when paying with their AIB Tappy wristband. The ice cream van will be open from 11am-5pm, Friday to Sunday, located on the back lawn.

Just 5,000 of the AIB Tappy wristbands will be made available for this festival weekend. They're available on a first come, first served basis at https://kaleidoscope.justtappit.com/.

Mark Doyle, Chief Marketing Officer at AIB commented:

"We are always looking for new, creative ways to ensure our customers can bank less and do more when it comes to payments. At a festival – and especially one with your children – the last thing someone wants to do is miss a performance while queueing for an ATM or constantly be trying to make sure the kids don’t lose their pocket money.

"These AIB Tappy wristbands are a secure, convenient, simple way to manage your money over the weekend. While similar cashless payment wristbands have been used at festivals across the globe before, we’re excited to be the first bank offering this choice to the Irish festival scene."

Kaleidoscope takes place in Russborough House from Friday June 28th – Sunday June 30th 2019.
