There’s a whole host of food festivals taking place around Ireland this year starting in March and bringing us all the way through to September, so if you’re looking to broaden your foodie horizons this summer look no further.
It’s back and it’s even bigger and better this year - featuring an extended five day programme of fantastic food and free, family-friendly events in Galway on the Easter Bank Holiday Weekend. The Glawy Food Festival is all about celebrating Galway as a good food destination and with a strong focus on artisan, seasonal and local produce the festival will showcase the best that Galway has to offer.
West Waterford Festival of Food centred in Dungarvan is a mecca for food lovers and fun seekers particularly during the middle weekend in April - April 11th to 14th, 2013. The April Festival of Food’s programme has proven to be the perfect mix of free events and ticketed ones, an equally perfect mix of high end dining opportunities and casual bistro experiences and it certainly offers something for all ages.
Ballymaloe Literary Festival of food and Wine
The Ballymaloe Literary Festival of Food and Wine will bring some of the world’s best known chefs, critics, commentators, kitchen gardeners, foragers and wine experts to East Cork. The entire festival will be held at Ballymaloe House and Ballymaloe Cookery School. In addition to the usual festival activities (readings, talks, panel discussions) we are planning to hold demonstrations, tastings, producer visits, foraging expeditions, lunches and dinners.
Wexford Food and Wine Festival
Wexford’s 2013 festival programme will provide a tasty schedule of mouth watering events for adults and children including a crackling hog roast, cookery demonstrations, a trip back through time to see and sample food cooked 500 BC, and open air food producers markets throughout the town.

The Westport Food Festival is an annual three day event held during September. The festival incorporates day and evening events in and around Westport Town, Murrisk and the Quays, with activities to suit all ages and food interests. It features dining events, a food village, wine tastings, cooking for kids, bilingual demos, a dessert making competition, treasure trail, cookery workshops, seafood foraging, mushroom foraging, tasting menus, cookery demonstrations with local chefs, special festival menus and a business day-long forum called ‘Recipes for Success’.
Galway International Oyster and Seafood Festival
On 26th-29th September 2013, Galway City, on the West Coast of Ireland, will come alive with seafood and oysters as it celebrates the Galway International Oyster and Seafood Festival. It is Ireland's most internationally recognised food festival and the world's oldest recorded oyster festival. Established in 1954, The Galway International Oyster & Seafood Festival has welcomed over half a million visitors, consumed more than 3 million oysters - washed down with champagne and stout whilst listening to some of the best musicians in Ireland.
