Murder, mystery and intrigue as Film Fatale presents the seductive 1940s film noir Double Indemnity.
On Saturday the 5th November, Film Fatale, Dublin’s most glamourous film event, will transport its audience back to the 1940s for a night of film, femme fatales, detectives, cocktails, vintage music, and maybe murder.
A screening of Billy Wilder’s dark and provocative Double Indemnity will be followed by a 1940s noir-themed party mirroring the style of the film with a live performance from Mizz Dietrichson singing sultry soulful songs of the forties and Film Fatale’s resident DJs, The Andrews Sisters’ Brothers, playing music from the era with a sexy noir twist. The audience is invited to help set the scene by dressing up as femme fatales and detectives, in their vintage finest, paying homage to 1940s noir style or mirroring the characters from the film.
Double Indemnity, Wilder's classic noir, a familiar brew of lust, larceny, and lethal intentions, stars Fred MacMurray and Barbara Stanwyck as a hot-blooded couple. Framed in flashback, the story is told by the dying Walter Neff (MacMurray), an insurance salesman whose life ends up in the deep end when he meets the seductive Phyllis Dietrichson (Stanwyck) a provocative housewife who wishes her husband was dead.
Dublin’s bi-monthly film event Film Fatale is all about classic movies and old-fashioned fun. Screening the crème de la crème of classic films in the sumptuous surroundings of the Sugar Club, this night of cinema nostalgia mirrors the style of the films being screened transporting the audience back to the golden age of cinema.
Doors open at 8pm After-party from 11pm
