Drogheda Samba Festival is a three day celebration of the Samba music, dance and costume with workshops, open air and pub gigs and a carnival parade. Other forms of Latin and African music and dance have become part of the festival and there is a late night fringe festival 'Global Groves' which features world music. A salsa night and a Samba Mass have also become regular features. Most events are free, family friendly and formulated for fun.

The festival is now established as the annual reunion for members of Samba groups all over Ireland who are joined by bands from the UK and mainland Europe for a weekend party. Over the years bands from other continents, as far afield as Sao Paulo to Singapore, have performed in Drogheda - dubbed the friendliest Samba festival in Europe.
