The scenic village of Cong will celebrate the West of Ireland's contribution to cinema with the Cong Festival 2013, where a specially commissioned statue of 'The Quiet Man' stars John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara will be unveiled on Sunday. A fun-filled weekend is planned, kicking off on Friday evening from 7.30pm with workshops, exhibitions and a special screening, followed by a ceili in the festival marquee. Saturday is Market Day in the village with a children's treasure hunt, the Annual Duck Derby and the Inisfree Ball. On Sunday, the statue will be unveiled by a very special guest, and an exciting after-party is planned with live music, dancing and more. There will also be a Teddy Bears Gathering Party for children; a live concert with Dessie O'Halloran, Matt Keane and Friends; and the festival will close with the stage production of 'The Quiet Man' by Ballyglunin Railway Restoration Project in association with Abbey Acts Drama Group.
