Camp 14 is the story of Shin Dong-Huyk, who was born and raised in a North Korean re-education camp. From the age of six he was forced to work and suffered starvation, beatings and torture, knowing nothing about the outside world. At 23, he escaped the camp with the help of an older prisoner and travelled through North Korea, South Korea and China. In Camp 14 Marc Wiese tells Shin Dong-Huyk’s story alongside those of two former camp guards. The resulting film is an electrifying story of three people formed by a totalitarian regime.
There will be a QandA after the screening.
