Bram Stoker Festival, an initiative of Dublin City Council, and Fáilte Ireland, celebrates Dublin’s dark side this October Bank Holiday Weekend. The festival is named in honour of gothic writer Bram Stoker, author of Dracula.

The festival is delighted to announce Amy Huberman, David Rawle (Moone Boy’s 14-year-old star), Theo Dorgan and musical guests Heathers as part of the line-up for Soundings: Bram Stoker Edition, a night of stories and song to inspire, entertain and alarm, presented by Dylan Haskins and Lisa Hannigan in St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

I Got the Seanchai, I Got the Secret, a bilingual story-telling evening hosted by Una Mullally and Vickey Curtis, will feature Róisín Ingle (Irish Times), Clara Rose Thornton (Dublin slam poetry champion),Temper-Mental MissElayenous (bodhrán-beating poetry-woven rapper), Niamh Beirne (PETTYCASH), Roisin Agnew (Guts Magazine), Joanne McNally (Comedian) and Louise Bruton.

On the festival line-up Ray Yeates, Dublin City Arts Officer, commented "The Bram Stoker Festival is Dublin's annual celebration inspired by one of our most famous writers and a gateway to our gothic city. Everyone eagerly awaits this spooky feast."

Also speaking about the upcoming festival, Dublin Manager for Fáilte Ireland, Mark Rowlette said; "The Bram Stoker festival showcases Dublin in a new and unique way, many visitors would be unaware of Dublin’s Dracula connection and this festival brings it to the fore. Not only that, but it is a significant addition to the autumn calendar which unlocks a fun, creative and intriguing side to the city. We believe Bram Stoker has the capacity to entice potential visitors to come to Dublin outside of the summer season and are delighted to support it.”

Other festival highlights include a pop-up theme park Stokerland which will open its gates to families, and the young at heart, on Sunday 25th Oct in the Dead Centre of Dublin, Wolfe Tone Park, and feature the macabre talents of world- class street performers The Mighty Gareth and Able Mabel. The Macnas parade takes place at twilight on Monday 26th October, in what is set to be another breath-taking, citywide procession from the Galway based spectacle and street performance company.

For the over 18s, there is New Blood, a cold sharp bite of contemporary Irish Culture. It's a party set to take over and transform Project Arts Centre into a futuristic vampire haven for one night only. Line-up includes Evvol, Somerville, This Greedy Pig with more acts to be announced. With a bespoke cocktail & shot bar, a daring dress code and immersive installations this is a party like no other (on a Bank Holiday Sunday).

Dubliners and visitors to the city are invited to follow the fun using #BiteMeDublin and watch out as landmarks and buildings across the city light up in blood red.
