"The only currency in this bankrupt world is what we share with someone else when we're uncool"
There's no better way to honour a great actor than by remembering their work. Hoffman's short career has seen some of cinema's greatest performances and most memorable films. With the recent passing of Philip Seymour Hoffman, The Sugar Club will host a special screening of 1996's Almost Famous.
Film journalists Brian Lloyd (RTE, SPIN 103.8), Rory Cashin (Entertainment.ie, TV3) and Sue Murphy (Newstalk, Her.ie) will discuss Philip Seymour Hoffman's career in a brief tribute before the film.
Following the movie, we'll be playing music from Hoffman's films, including Almost Famous, The Big Lebowski, The Savages and many more.
All of the money taken in at the door will then be put behind the bar for anybody who wishes to have a drink afterwards. This event is not about making money, but remembering a great artist.
