One of the most surprisingly funny films of the past decade is easily 'Zombieland', which took a relatively familiar premise - the zombie apocalypse - and inflected it with '80s high-concept comedy laughs ala 'Ghostbusters' and 'Monster Squad'.

The film's young cast, made up of Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin, springboarded into careers off the back of it whilst Woody Harrelson's career renaissance continued apace with it. So, after eleven years, the cast is returning for the sequel with director Ruben Fleischer set to return.

THR reports that a deal has been struck to bring back the original cast and Fleishcer, who's currently in post-production on 'Venom' with Tom Hardy. In a statement, Sony Pictures chief Sanford Panitch said that 'Zombieland 2' is "...one of those projects that fans have wanted to see happen for a long time — and no one wanted to see it happen more than Emma, Woody, Jesse and Abigail."

No release date has been set as of yet, but from the description THR was provided with, it looks like there'll be more casting announcements to come as the makeshift family will "face off against new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors."

Here's hoping Bill Murray survives.
