Saoirse Ronan has been tipped for an Oscar nod following critical acclaim for her performance in a new film called Lady Bird.
The film marks the directorial debut of Greta Gerwig (best-known for Mistress America and Frances Ha), who also wrote the script. The movie had its World Premiere at the Telluride Film Festival last weekend.
In Lady Bird, Ronan plays Christine McPherson, a rebellious student at a conservative Catholic Sacramento high school who wants to escape her family and small town constraints to go to college in New York. It also stars Lucas Hedge, who got an Oscar nom last year for his performance in Manchester by the Sea.
No Irish release date has been announced yet but it’s due to hit cinemas in the States on November 10th so here’s hoping we’ll see it around the same time.
