Take Two!
Bonnie and Clyde actors Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway are returning to present the Best Picture at this year’s Oscars in spite of the gaffe at last year’s ceremony.
At the 2017 awards, the wrong Best Picture title was announced when the actors were given the incorrect envelope. The Best Picture winner was Moonlight but their card read La La Land (in fact, it read Emma Stone, La La Land, since they were handed a duplicate version of the Best Lead Actress winner envelope).
The incident led to a great deal of confusion and is probably one of the most famous occurrences in the entire history of the Academy Awards.
According to TMZ, the two actors were seen rehearsing at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood yesterday. The pair ran through their lines twice with Faye beginning: “Presenting is better the second time around.”
It looks like Beatty will have the honour of announcing the winner as he was seen practising the line “The winner is 'Gone with the Wind.'”
TMZ reports that the writers are still putting finishing touches on their lines.
The 2018 Academy Awards, which will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel for the second year in a row, will take place this Sunday.
