Given how the first trailer barely showed any of Venom the character itself, this trailer's pretty much gone 180 and shown pretty much all there is of the character.
What's interesting to note in the trailer isn't just the special effects - which look pretty decent, considering - but also the fact that you can actually understand what Tom Hardy is saying for the most part. Consider 'Peaky Blinders' or 'Mad Max: Fury Road', or even something like 'Dunkirk' - you can just about make out what he's saying and that's often either because he's wearing a mask or covering his face with either giant facial hair or a respirator.
Here, he's basically encased in a CGI suit and he's pretty legible, which really is a first for Tom Hardy's career. Who knew all it took for him was to basically play a guy that's being eaten by an alien symbiote to make it happen?
'Venom' arrives in Irish cinemas on October 5th.
