Whether you like them or not, the fact of the matter is that The Expendables have always consistently made money.
Why is that? Well, for one, people love a good reunion tour and The Expendables is the ultimate in '80s no-brainer action reunions. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dolph Lundgren, Sylvester Stallone, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford - they've all had a turn in The Expendables and, according to THR, will likely get another go again.
The report simply states that a fourth film is in the works with iMDB confirming that Gregory Poirier is working on the screenplay. No director has been attached as of yet, but there'll likely be an announcement in the coming months as the film has a release date of early 2018.
There's been rumours circling about a fourth Expendables film for some time now, with word that our own Pierce Brosnan was being lined up for a role. Brosnan admitted as much, saying that he had met with producer Avi Lerner and agreed to star in an Expendables film at some point.
Even more interesting was the rumour that Sylvester Stallone was attempting to court Jack Nicholson out of retirement for the villainous role in the fourth film. Not only that, Hulk Hogan has stated that he's interested in starring in the film and has reportedly spoken to Stallone about a potential role in the film.
As you'd expect, there's a laundry list of potential actors for this, with names like Bill Duke, Jean Reno, Bill Goldberg, Sean Bean, Jeremy Irons, Michael Ironside, Scott Glenn, Harris Yulin, Gary Oldman and Tommy Lee Jones all supposedly connected to the film.
Either way, you can expect lots of explosions and unironic dialogue throughout. Can't wait, to be honest.
