Following on from yesterday’s announcement that ‘Joker’, starring Joaquin Phoenix, is going to be released in October of next year, it would seem that another star could be joining the movie.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Zazie Beetz is in talks for the film.
In case that name doesn’t ring a bell, Zazie Beetz starred in ‘Deadpool 2’, playing the super cool new addition of Domino. Beetz also plays the lead actress in Donald Glover’s hit series ‘Atlanta.’
If the deal is made, Beetz will play a single mother who catches the interest of the man who will become the "clown prince of crime." These are the most plot details that have been disclosed about the project so far.
‘Joker’ is being directed by ‘The Hangover’ helmer Todd Phillips with a script from Scott Silver (‘8 Mile,’ ‘The Fighter’). Martin Scorsese is an executive producer.
The film is being described as a dark character study, and is more moderate in budget than other Warner Bros/DC movies have been.
Zazie Beetz’s career has been on the up and up as she’ll also be starring opposite Natalie Portman in ‘Pale Blue Dot,’ Fox Searchlight’s upcoming Noah Hawley sci-fi drama. The actress also has Steven Soderbergh’s ‘High Flying Bird’ in postproduction.
