Last night, the opening to the MTV Movie and TV Awards included an absolutely gas crossover between ‘Black Panther’ and ‘Girls Trip’ that we never thought we’d see but are glad we did.
‘Girls Trip’ was one of the surprise indie hits of last year while ‘Black Panther’, it was recently revealed, has been the highest grossing movie in the domestic box office of the year so far.
The parody opens with ‘Black Panther’’s famous ‘challenge scene’ where challengers are invited to take on Prince T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) for the awards hosting gig.
Haddish steps up to while her ‘Girls Trip’ co-stars Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett Smith also make an appearance.
There’s a musical interlude where the ladies dance to TLC’s ‘Waterfalls’, because why the hell not, before Haddish and Boseman battle. While the latter wins, he then disappears, because of, well, ‘Infinity War’ (spoiler).
Haddish has some purple drink and grows a unicorn horn, announcing, “Behold, the Black Unicorn — and she horny as hell. You feel me, Wakanda. MTV Movie and TV Awards forever!”
Other highlights of the MTV Movie and TV Awards last night included when Black Panther's Chadwick Boseman gave his MTV Movie Award to the Waffle House hero, and when Michael B. Jordan took a jab at Roseanne Barr during his acceptance speech for the Best Villain award.
