Although it's not for another few months away, the awards season has kicked off in earnest with Telleuride Film Festival debuting a number of films that are expected to make up the conversation in the Academy Awards.
Films like Churchill biopic The Darkest Hour, George Clooney's Suburbicon, and Greta Gerwig's Lady Bird have all screened to strong reviews - with our own Saoirse Ronan singled out as the strongest contender so far for Best Actress.
The film, written and directed by Gerwig, sees Ronan playing a teenage girl who plans to escape her family by going to college in New York. Already, reviews have praised Ronan's performance, with Vanity Fair calling her "a compelling mix of soulful and thoughtful," whilst IndieWire cites the film as Ronan's "greatest role".
Lady Bird is expected for an Irish release in late 2017 to early 2018.
