As you may have already heard, Joss Whedon has now signed up to direct Batgirl as part of Warner / DC's Extended Universe.
While it's early days yet, speculation is already rife as to who'll be cast as Barbara Gordon / Batgirl. Technically, the role has already been cast - as Jena Malone already played Barbara Gordon in the Ultimate Edition of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It's not yet confirmed if Malone will still be in the role or if it's going to be recast, but it's quite likely that Whedon has a huge say in the role.
Not only that, casting also depends on whether or not Barbara Gordon / Batgirl is going to be age-appropriate to JK Simmons' Jim Gordon, or if it's a younger iteration of the character.
