You may know him best as Dracula or Richard Nixon, but Frank Langella plays a rather different sort of fella in Robot and Frank. The Academy Award winner is jetting into Dublin for a very special screening of the film at the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival on February 23rd.
Co-starring Susan Sarandon, James Marsden and Liv Tyler, Robot and Frank is a buddy caper. Set in the near future, aging curmudgeon and retired jewel thief Frank (Langella) lives a solitary life until his son (Marsden) installs a caretaker robot; against he and his daughter's (Tyler) wishes. The robot upends Frank's lonely life - filled only with books and a visit to his favourite librarian (Sarandon) - with a strict regimen of exercise, diet and gardening. Stubborn at first, Frank soon realises Robot has the ability to pull off the most calculated of heists. An unlikely friendship, and crime duo, is born
The film sounds like a right hoot and we personally can't wait to check it out. And no, our enthusiasm has absolutely nothing to do with James Marsden. At all.
Robot and Frank comes to JDIFF 2013 on February 23rd and hits Irish cinemas on March 8th.
