Although it's been rumoured for years and the original came out in 1996, 'Space Jam 2' is finally set and officially happening - and there's even a teaser image to confirm it.

The image shows the initial lineup including LeBron James, 'Black Panther' director as producer and Terence Nance directing - and, of course, Bugs Bunny in there as well. THR reports that production is due to begin in 2019 during the NBA's off-season, however there's no word yet of other basketball players who'll cameo in the movie.

The 1996 movie was a commercial and critical success, with Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls already firmly established as a household name before he signed on. Signing Ryan Coogler on as producer, however, is a big deal as Coogler was the brains and creative vision behind 'Black Panther', which crossed the billion-dollar mark and became the highest-grossing movie ever made by a black director.

Previously, other names such as 'Star Trek Beyond' director Justin Lin were attached to take on the live-action / animation hybrid, however Nance appears to be locked in. Nance's previous work includes a HBO series called 'Random Acts Of Flyness' and various experimental shorts. Lin is still expected to stay on as producer.

No release date has been set for 'Space Jam 2' as of yet.
