WARNING: SPOILERS FOR SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

Zendaya, best-known for her role in Disney Channel’s Shake It Up, has been attached for a while now to Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Now, according to The Wrap, it is reported that Zendaya will be playing none other than Mary Jane Watson in the new film. The character is of course Spider-Man’s long-time love interest, and was first brought to the screen by Kirsten Dunst in 2002’s Spider-Man.

The Wrap stated that ‘at least one recent draft of the script has Zendaya’s character dropping several clues to her identity as Mary Jane.’ Back in March, it was reported that her 'key role character' was named Michelle, which it is now being speculated was a pseudonym.

Zendaya will star opposite Tom Holland in the titular role. He made his screen debut as the iconic superhero in Captain America: Civil War earlier this year.

At this time, no other details about the plot or characters are available. It is slated to hit cinemas summer 2017.
