Whatever your feelings on a sequel to 'The Shining', it's definitely happening - and the first big name of its cast has been announced.
As reported earlier this year, Mike Flanagan, director of 'Gerald's Game', is set to direct the adaptation of Stephen King's 2013 novel 'Doctor Sleep', stepping into the rather big shoes of Stanley Kubrick - no pressure.
Now, Ewan McGregor is set to star in the film and King - who notoriously hated Kubrick's adaptation - has given his blessing to the casting.
McGregor will play the grown-up Danny Torrance, who has struggled with the memory of what happened to him at the Overlook Hotel as a kid, developing a drinking problem that numbs his pain and his 'shining' gift. However, when he gets sober and uses his gift to help people dying at a hospice, he makes a connection with a young girl with similar powers.
There's no release date as yet, but to call this film 'highly anticipated' is understating the case just a tad...
