Best-known for Game of Thrones and currently on the big screen in Solo: A Star Wars Story, many may forget that Emilia Clarke’s first venture into movie franchise territory was 2015’s Terminator Genisys.
While it grossed over $440 million worldwide, making it the second-highest-grossing film of the Terminator franchise behind T2: Judgment Day, critics slated it and fans were underwhelmed. For the next instalment of the series, the production team are sidestepping the movie entirely.
One person who is relieved about this is Clarke, who played Sarah Connor in the 2015 film.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, she described the production as chaotic and admitted that “no one had a good time” making the sequel.
Speaking about director Alan Taylor, who Clarke had also worked with on seven episodes of GOT, Clarke said he got “eaten and chewed up” on the Terminator set.
“He was not the director I remember,” Clarke said. “He didn’t have a good time. No one had a good time.”
Clarke told Vanity Fair she was “relieved” she didn’t have to return to the role for additional Terminator movies.
The actress remembered the Genisys production being so bad that word spread to the set of Josh Trank’s equally-as-chaotic Fantastic Four set, which was shooting nearby. The Fantastic Four crew members responded by wearing jackets that read, “At least we’re not on ‘Terminator.'”
