If you need a good indicator for how a film's going to perform at the box-office, YouTube views are usually the most accurate marker.

The 2016 version of Ghostbusters became the most disliked video in YouTube history and vastly underperformed at the box office whilst Fifty Shades Of Grey scored over 100 million views on its first week on YouTube. Fifty Shades went on to score a box office of $571 million against a $40 million production budget. The sequel's trailer, Fifty Shades Darker, managed to pick up 114 million views on its first day and set a world record in the process.

That record's now been beaten by yesterday's Beauty & The Beast trailer, which passed 127 million views in under a day. That's roughly the population of Japan, which has 126 million. Imagine every man, woman and child in Japan saw Beauty & The Beast's trailer in one single day. Those figures are mind-blowing, frankly.

Disney says that approximately 29 million views came from Facebook whilst an additional 27 million came from Emma Watson's Facebook page with the rest being made up from places like ourselves embedding the trailer in articles.

On that note, here it is again. Now it's 127 million plus one. Yay, we're helping!
