Quentin Tarantino has been in the news in recent days for less than positive reasons - most of them relating to Uma Thurman's revelations of how she was treated on the set of the Kill Bill films.

The director responded to Thurman's New York Times interview by saying that the car crash incident was 'the biggest regret of [his] life'.

Now, actress Diane Kruger, who worked with Tarantino on Inglourious Basterds, said that she found working with him a 'pure joy'.

Kruger's character is also choked in the film - as Thurman was on the set of Kill Bill - but she said on Instagram that while "this is an important moment in time and my heart goes out to Uma and anyone who has ever been the victim of sexual assault and abuse", Tarantino treated her "with utter respect and never abused his power or forced me to do anything I wasn’t comfortable with." In the choking scene of the film, Tarantino's hands are used in the close-up.
