There will be a reboot of the short-lived Zorro franchise, after the last film, The Legend of Zorro, didn't do the business that studio Sony were hoping for.

According to Deadline, TV writers Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia (they've worked for cult shows Warehouse 13 and Human Target and are currently producing Charlie's Angels for ABC) will pen the script for the reboot with a director currently be sought. When a helmer falls into place, then so too will a star - or vice versa if the script attracts some A-List talent.

The first Zorro film starring Antonio Banderas was a surprise hit, but they waited too long to follow it up with a sequel, and audiences seemed to lose interest.
