Zach Braff has been awful quiet since the cancelling of his TV show, Scrubs, and has recently turned his hand to theatre - writing the off-Broadway play, All New People. But he's now joining a blockbuster.

According to Deadline, the Garden State actor/director will play James Franco's assistant in the Sam Raimi directed Oz: The Great and the Powerful. Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz have also joined the cast, and the film is set for a 2013 release date, with a lot of work to be done in post production.

Braff is yet to step behind the camera again after an excellent debut, but hopefully this is a move in the right direction.
