Less than a week after its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival, some clips have been released for Bradley Cooper’s upcoming directorial debut ‘A Star is Born.’

In Venice, the film had been interrupted by a technical glitch which ceased its showing for a quarter of an hour. However, after it wrapped, the movie was rewarded with an eight-minute long standing ovation.

Cooper stars in the film alongside Lady Gaga.

The first trailer for it dropped back in June.

The official synopsis for the movie reads:

“In this new take on the tragic love story, [Cooper] plays seasoned musician Jackson Maine, who discovers—and falls in love with—struggling artist Ally (Gaga). She has just about given up on her dream to make it big as a singer... until Jack coaxes her into the spotlight.

“But even as Ally’s career takes off, the personal side of their relationship is breaking down, as Jack fights an ongoing battle with his own internal demons.”

‘A Star is Born’ has previously been adapted for the big screen three times, its most famous versions being the 1976 musical drama starring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson, and the 1954 one starring Judy Garland and James Mason.

Below, in two clips respectively titled ‘Songwriter’ and ‘12 Notes’, you can get a sample of Gaga and Cooper’s singing in the movie. Has to be said, they sound pretty incredible.

‘A Star is Born’ will be released in Irish cinemas on October 5th.
