It's a well known fact that difficult times often produce more creativity, and ReachOut.com are making full use of this by asking the young and aspiring filmmakers of Ireland to start creating. The website, an online mental health service with a targeted age bracket of 18-30, are asking young filmmakers to create a short piece that will inspire others suffering from common mental health issues.

This will be the launch of the third short film competition by the site with such an aim. Called Inspire a Generation, the competition asks the entrants to complete a film or animation under two minutes that demonstrates ways to get through difficult issues and times. It also asks filmmakers to challenge mental health preconceptions. Real life experiences, along with quality assured mental health information, can be drawn upon for the film. Some of the issues that ReachOut.com address are anxiety, panic, shyness, bullying, personal safety, depression, sex, relationships and sexuality.

The winning prize is a hefty €2,000 plus an internship with leading Irish ad agency Cawley-Nea. The runner up will win €1,000 and the second runner up will receive €500. Interested filmmakers and animators should enter their concepts and film outline through ReachOut.com by Monday, 22nd July 2013. Shortlisted teams will then be contacted if they are in to the next phase to produce their film or animation. The closing date for the final film submission will be Monday, 9th September 2013.
