WOODY ALLEN is clearly on a roll with his movies in and about cities - other than NYC - with his triptych of London, then Barcelona, Paris and Rome bringing him renewed success. Now it’s San Francisco's turn with the perpetually miserable-looking old fella being spotted daily around the hipster and hispanic paradise - The Mission District.

The 'untitled Woody Allen project' stars Cate Blanchett and British actor Sally Hawkins ("Jane Eyre") playing a pair of sisters with the latter being the bohemian one to Blanchett's uptight character. The eclectic cast also includes Alec Baldwin, Louis C.K., Andrew Dice Clay and Peter Sarsgaard. On a side note, Louis C.K. gave an unannounced, killer stand-up performance at The Punch Line in San Francisco last week and afterwards picked up the food and drinks tab for everyone in the audience… what a guy. Allen also is no stranger to stand-up having cut his teeth in the clubs of San Francisco in the last century. He made his directorial debut in San Fran with "Take the Money and Run" and the film adaptation of his Broadway hit "Play it Again, Sam" starring Allen opposite Diane Keaton, was also shot here.
