Two of the best cantakerous comedians in the business have already collaborated on a new film this summer (that's Blue Jasmine by the by) but could Woody Allen (the modern prototype of New York Jewish wit) and Louis C.K. (who is known as one of the most popular yet controversial comedians America has produced in the last two decades or so) team up for a buddy comedy?

The lads worked together on Blue Jasmine, a film which marks a return to shooting in America for Allen, but it seems as though it may not be their final collaboration. While Louis was more than happy to work with the likes of Alec Baldwin, Cate Blanchett, Bobby Cannavale, Andrew Dice Clay, Michael Emerson, Sally Hawkins and Peter Sarsgaard on this latest project, he was positively beaming when Woody acknowledged the fact that the pair had discussed starring in a film together.

According to Vulture, Louis was worried that Allen had forgotten all about their little conversation, so when the New York Times asked the actor how he felt about Woody's comments about his desire to make a "fun movie" with him, Louis was relieved that he hadn't dreamt the whole thing up. Sure, it was supposed to have happened by now, but that doesn't mean it couldn't in future, right?

Laurel and Hardy, Dumb and Dumber, Pegg and Frost- you can all step aside. The stage has been set for a couple more comedically choleric than Matthau and Lemmon. Could these two be the new Grumpy Old Men?
