Hancock is the big boy being unfolded this weekend, and it’s splitting the critics - with more disliking it than liking it. On one hand The New York Times offered relative praise saying " it makes for one unexpectedly satisfying and kinky addition to Hollywood’s superhero chronicles." While Peter Travers at Rolling Stone hit the nail on the head when he said it was "hugely entertaining until the final reel, when the film tries for a tragic dimension it can't handle", but then went on to praise the "excellent" cast. On the downside, The San Francisco Chronicle was wholly negative, saying that "Hancock is never as serious or funny or poignant as it could be". It’s still worth a look; despite being deeply flawed, it does have genuine moments of inspiration, and you will get decent bang for your buck.
