We're all missing the little pleasures in life right about now. Here at entertainment.ie, we're particularly missing the cinema. And we know for a fact that we're not the only ones.

There's a reason why the cinema has become a treasured source of entertainment over the past century. In fact, there are many reasons.

It's a place where people of all ages and backgrounds gather together to enjoy those escapist, magical commodities of the movies.

Sure you can stream them at home, but there's something special and unique about gathering in a theatre and experiencing them.

A trip to the cinema is an occasion, an indulgence where you can gorge on popcorn and treats. It's the ideal spot for a catch-up with friends or family (though please save your conversation until after the movie), or you can get to know someone on a casual date at the movies.

The big screen, surround sound and plush seats are all a distinct part of the cinema. Laughing, crying or getting frightened is always more fun and a better experience with an audience.

Ireland is home to so many cinemas with distinct personalities, like the Light House and IFI in Dublin, or Palás in Galway.

Thus, it's impossible to pick just one aspect that makes it perfect.

We want to find out what you think though, so vote in our poll below, and let us know in the comments on Facebook.
