'Saint Maud' looks like the next big horror release that's going to leave audiences running out of their cinema screens.

In recent years, horror movies have received a huge resurgence. It's been one that has led to many actual worthwhile movies to go see in movie theatres, such as 'A Quiet Place', 'Us', and 'Insidious'. James Wan became a leader of the pack with his 'Annabelle' and 'The Conjuring' series. However, other directors are coming out of the woodwork, and they're adding incredible star power into the genre.

Last year's 'Midsommar' with Florence Pugh from director Ari Aster surprised audiences and had us never wanting to journey to Sweden ever again; while his 2018 movie 'Hereditary' with Toni Colllette left us downright scared sh*tless.

Never fear dear readers, as the same studio who brought these wonderful horror-fests to life are back once again with their latest offering 'Saint Maud'. A24 Films have become a studio who have made a very big name for themselves of late, backing the likes of Oscar-nominated movie 'The Lighthouse'. They're also behind other movies who had Oscar buzz surrounding them, 'The Farewell', and 'Uncut Gems'.

Directed by Rose Glass, 'Saint Maud' is their latest offering which should be put on your radar. The horror movie follows Maud (Morfydd Clark), who is a reclusive young nurse whose Christian devotion turns into sheer trauma. Maud's fervent faith quickly inspires an obsessive conviction, believing she must save her ward's soul from eternal damnation.

Here's the newly released trailer for you.

'Saint Maud' will be released in Irish cinemas on May 1st.
