Following Anthropoid, out in Irish cinemas today, the Netflix film marks Dornan’s second turn playing a soldier.
The debut trailer for The Siege of Jadotville was released today, and the film looks pretty intense.
Based on a true story, the film follows a battalion of Irish UN peacekeepers dispatched to the Congo during the 1960s.
Dornan plays their commandant, Pat Quinlan, who leads a siege against the forces of 3000 Congolese troops led by French and Belgian mercenaries working for mining companies.
The film is directed by Richie Smyth and written by Kevin Brodbin. It also stars Guillaume Canet, Emmanuelle Seigner, Jason O’Mara, Mikael Persbrandt and Mark Strong.

The Siege of Jadotville will be released in Irish cinemas by Element Pictures Distribution on Monday 19th September. It premieres on Netflix worldwide on Friday 7th October.
There will be also be a special screening of the film in Dublin on September 19th in The Savoy Cinema to celebrate the film and honor the surviving Jadotville soldiers. Following the screening, there will be a Q&A with Jamie Dornan, Richie Smyth and producer Alan Moloney which will be live streamed to cinemas nationwide.
