Irish horror has always been something of a hit and miss.

For every film like Grabbers or Let Us Prey, there's duds like Shrooms. Thankfully, that's no longer the case as films like The Gloaming are showing what Irish directors can do with the genre. Set in the Irish Famine of 1849, the short follows a father and son working the harsh lands before they're stalked by some ancient evil.

The film's travelled across the globe, with screenings in South Africa, Manchester, Lisbon and picked up a few awards along the way.
